Pre-Pointe
taught by Peggy Wingate
Pre-Pointe is a technical ballet class with emphasis being on the strengthening of the ankle and foot in preparation for pointe work. This class uses traditional Classical Ballet exercises in addition to exercises with a heavy focus on releve and correct placement of the foot, ankle, knee and hip. Dancers work on a deeper understanding and ability to use each metatarsal and muscle of the foot and ankle. The student will develop a better control of the lower extremities so when pointe shoes are added, they are strong and knowledgeable enough to be successful with less chance of injury.
